Winning the War

Vietnam has made impressive gains in economic growth and social development over the last 20 years, but these improvements vary widely between place, ethnicity and language group. High neonatal and maternal mortality, malnutrition, poor sanitation and hygiene, poor water quality, increased HIV transmission from mother to child, and child injuries are all continuing threats to child survival. We live in a world where children’s lives are in danger from illnesses that are easy to treat, or preventable with a vaccine. Unicef is continuing to fight this battle with children being vaccinated against measles, which kills more than 145,700 children worldwide every year…
